Love for the Ahl-al Bayt in the Ottoman Empire
A frock said to have belonged to Mohammed's grandson and a prayer rug used by his daughter are now on display at a new exhibition in
Istanbul's
Topkapi Palace Museum. The palace's new exhibition, “Love for the Ahl-al Bayt in the Ottoman Empire,” opened its doors to visitors Monday. The exhibition is co-organized by the Topkapi Palace and the Turkish Women Culture Association, or TÜRKKAD. Ahl-al Bayt, which literally means household in Arabic, is used to refer to descendants of the Prophet Mohammed, his daughter Fatma, her husband Ali, and their sons Hassan and Huseyin. Love for the Ahl-al Bayt in the Ottoman Empire will be on display in the chamber of sacred relics at
Topkapi Palace,which is on the
European coast of
Bosphorus until the end of November.
